LATEST FROM THE FRONT.

[Specially Telegraphed' to Stab.]

(from our own correspondent.)

Armed Constabulary Camp,

Pumgarehu, Tuesday.

The Hon. the Native Minister is in camp. On his approach to the Parapara, last evening, it was found that the natives had erected a strong fence across the road, and were digging a trench parallel to it. Mr. Bryce was allowed to pass through, but Mr. E. L. Hunt, who" attempted to travel that way subsequently, was not allowed to proceed ; but the appearance of Captain Gudgeon on the scene, with a party of the Armed Constabulary, dispersed the natives. The fence was taken down this morning by a party of men under Major Tuke.

The usual paltry fence was erected here this morning by 38 natives, who quietly returned to Parihaka when they had finished.

All the drain pipes lying on the side of the road, for a distance of a mile and a half from here, have been utterly smashed and pounded with stones.
