WRECK OF THE RANGATIRA.
[Specially Telegraphed to Star.]
(per united pbess association.) New Plymouth, Friday night. The official inquiry into the circumstances attending the wreck of the Rangatira was commenced to-day, and is not yet concluded. The captain, in his evidence, blamed the officer in charge for the catastrophe.
LATER. (FROM OXTR OWN. CORRESPONDENT.) New Plymouth, Friday night. The chief mate of the Rangatira had his certificate suspended for six months. The captain was reprimanded. The inquiry lasted the whole day.
