Cablylb, Tuesday.

A letter has been received from Major Atkinson stating that Patea is at last to have a bonded store. The expense of a Customs officer will not be gone to, but the owner of a store near the harbor will act as deputy, and will have control over all dutiable goods.. Mr. H. F. Christie has interested himself in securing this great convenience for Patea. A memorial from a public meeting, held here "some months ago, was sent to Wellington to the same' effect, but a reply received about a month ago stated that the request could not be granted on account of expense.

The following- are the total scores made on Saturday in the rifle i»arcli, ben noncommissioned officers against ten of the rest of company, the conditions being five shots at 200, 300, and 400 yards ; Bin. bull's eye : — Non-Conimiseioned Officers, 413 ; Company, 371. The non-commissioned officers thus won by 42 points. A return match against the "Wanganui Rifle Corps will be fired .on Saturday first; conditions same as above.

The Cadets' ball is fixed for next Friday, at the Town Hall.

A dramatic company is announced to perform here to-morrow evening. A meeting of surveyors was held on Saturday evening, at which a resolution was adopted that an association should be formed with head-quarters at Wellington. A schedule of charges was drawn up and agreed upon, and a committee was appointed, Mr. E. H. Beere, being elected secretary and treasurer. . ?
