. Wellington, Friday night. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report, under date London, 18th August: — The wool sales opened at an average decline of to Id. on last prices. The sales comprise about 288,000 bales. 88,000 bales have been sent to the manufacturing districts direct. The principal decline has been in scoured from the Cape of Good Hope. Home buyers are purchasing freely, but the Continental demand is rather limited. Trade in the manufacturing districts has improved.
