POLITICAL GOSSIP.
[Specially Telegraphed to Stab.]
(fboic our own correspondent.)
Wellington, Friday night.
The Hon. Major Atkinson, in the House of Representatives, presented the petition of the Hawera Light Horse to be put upon the same footing as the Waikato Cavalry. I understand that it is intended to accomplish the equality in the left-handed way of putting the Waikato Cavalry on the same footing as the Hawera Light Horse. It is, however, determined to issue to the Hawera Light Horse revolvors, as soon as they are available, which is expected very soon. The session is likely to last some time yet, and has the appearance of having a long run. There was a long debate on the Native Land Sales Bill and Native Frauds Prevention Bill, the native members taking an active part. The Representation Bill is at last in the hands of members.
