Thursday, August 5.

The Taranaki Ironsand Bill was read a third time.

The Wellington Racing Olnb will -wub read a bbcoxiA time.

The whole evening was spent in committee on the Deceased Wife's Sister Marriage Bill, the motion to go into committee being carried by 46 to 14. A portion of the minority continued to obstruct the Bill until 2.45 on Friday morning, when the Bill was reported without amendment, and the third reading fixed for Thursday next, at 7.30.

Friday, August 6.

In the House of Representatives, this morning, the Crown Grants Act Amendment, the District Courts Act Amendment, and the Otago Road Rates Validity Bills, were read a third time and passed.

The afternoon sitting was spent in Committee, on the Native Lands Sale Bill. An amendment proposed by Mr. Reader Wood, to moke the Bill voluntary and optional, was negatived by thirty-lour to twenty-five.
