| PEB UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
Wellington, Tuesday night.
The Government have received a telegram from the Native Minister, which states that the recent obstruction to the road parties, by the erecting of fences, has been owing to the natives having some cultivations a little distance away, which the fences were to p otect. They were therefore afraid that the road, if carried through, without the fence, would tempt horses and cattle to trespass on then* crops.
