PARLIAMENTARY NEWS.

(per united press association.) Wellington, Tuesday night. The House met at 2.30 p.m. Sir George Gx'ey gave notice of Bills for the repeal of the Property Assessment and Property Tax Bills. A considerable number of Government Bills were read a first time, including the Licensing Bill. Colonel Trimble, in a long speech, moved the Address in Eeply. In doing so, he attacked the finance of the Grey Government at considerable length. Captain Eussell seconded the motiony expressing hopes of a peaceful session. Mr. Macandrew spoke briefly, regretting that the Government had not announced its intention to repeal the property tax, and joining in the hope of a short session. Dr. Wallis spoke till the rising of the House, undertaking to show that the present Government had made more blunders in eight months than their predeces- | sors had done during two years of office.
