THE ELECTIONS IN GREAT BRITAIN.
London, April 15.
The eleccions are nearly over. 349 Liberals and 235 Conservatives have been elected, being a majority of 114 votes for the Liberals.
Sixty-three Home Rulers,, including 25 followers of Mr. Parnell, have been returned.
In the large boroughs the Liberals gained 57, and in the counties 47 seats, which were formerly held by the Conservatives.
The Home Rulers gained, seven seats.
Melbourne, Friday night. The Governor laid the foundation stone of the Melbourne Cathedral on Tuesday. There was a large attendance, and the proceedings were carried out with considerable ceremony. The Te Anau has sailed for New Zealand. New Zealand oats are slow of sale at 2s 3d. Sugar at auction has rea-
lised £1 per ton higher. The markefeis firm.
It is stated here that Messrs Money Wigram's steamship Norfolk will, on - her next trip from England, go direct to Lyttelton and Wellington. Adelaide, Friday night. Wheat in Adelaide, 4s sd ; wheat at outports, 4s 3d.
