“Blue Babies”

* CRITICISM IN AUSTRALIA Writing to a Melbourne paper Sister A. Wilson says:— “I read with sympathy and disgust The Sun’s timely story (13/5/48) on ‘blue baby’ equipment at the Alfred Hospital. I have “Sympathy—with the unfortunate children Avho, through lack of sufficient equipment to treat more than one patient at once, must wait indefinitely and suffer the disability of a heart complaint which leaves them unable to play and enjoy life as do normal children. “Disgust—with the Commonwealth Government in its short-sighted and bungling attitude in not issuing permits to enable purchase of more equipment from America. If conservation of the dollar is the reason, then millions of dollars spent by the Government on buying aircraft for T.A.A. must surely show wasteful comparison.

“Surely those who do know what it is all about will do something to aid these little tots who do not know what it is all about.”
