AFTERNOON INDOOR BOWLS
CLUB TO BE FORMED
The game of bowls, played both outdoor and indoor, is growing rapidly in popularity among women. There are within Wellington and the Hutt Valley ten women’s clubs playing outdoor bowls in the summer months, and many of these women find bowling such a fine form of recreation that indoor bowls is the obvious answer for the winter months.
Barely two months ago a meeting and a demonstration game of bowls were held in Wellington to form a Wellington Women’s Indoor Bowling Club. Women who had previously not played bowls, as well as the outdoor bowlers, were well represented and within this short time a club of fifty women is to be seen playing regularly each Monday afternoon at the Wellington Sports Centre. The women of the Hutt Valley will have this same opportunity, as a meeting to form a women’s indoor bowling club has been planned to take place at the Horticultural Hall on Monday,. June 14, at 2 p.m. After a short meeting there will be a demonstration game by women members of the Hutt Valley Indoor Bowling Association, after which all interested may test their skill at the popular indoor sport.
