N.Z. WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

HUTT VALLEY FEDERATION

Arrangements are being made by the Hutt Valley Federation to hold a round-table conference at Newlands on June 30, which is to take the form of a model meeting. April's guest speaker at Upper Hutt on modern art was Mrs. Campbell. The president, Mrs. Braid, was congratulated on receiving a Good Service Medal. May’s big feature was a social afternoon for the mothers. Valley Women’s Institute sent handkerchiefs as gifts to mothers at the Silverstream Hospital. The speaker at Wainui-o-Mata was Mrs. Barnicoat, who gave a talk on the .beginning of the Institutes in. New Zealand 27 years ago. A letter of appreciation was read for parcels received in England.

It seems that all Institutes in the Hutt Valley have benefited by Mr. Temple White’s classes, as there is a great demand for items from the choirs at monthly meetings.
