Hutt Harriers

SUCCESSFUL INVITATION The members of the Wellington Harrier Club were the guests of the Hutt Valley Club last Saturday and a very successful invitation run vfas held from the Petone West School. Eighty runners participated in a nine-mile run over the hills in the Horokiwi area and this large attendance of harriers from two clubs is indicative of the growing popularity of the sport. Results of the run were: Fast Pack.—M. Lyttle (W.), 1; J. Cook (H.), 2; T. Nippert (W.), 3. Medium Pack.—W. Jones (H.,), 1; D. Barkle (W.), 2; W. Hopkins (W.), 3. Slow Pack.—W. Owen (W.), 1; A. McKnight (H.), 2; J. McGuire (H.), O O. Colts (2J-mile run). —R. Green and R. Owen (W.), 1; R. Twist (H.), 2; N. Price (W.), 3. M. Lyttle and J. Cook staged an exciting finish for the fast pack lmnours ancl they crossed the finishing line practically locked together. Both runners are extremely fit and will be of great assistance to their clubs in the approaching inter-club events. Bill Jones’ performance in leading the medium pack home “"indicates that this runner is rapidly recovering his excellent form of two seasons ago. His regular attendance and keen enthusiasm for the sport makes him it very valuable club man. Next week the club will visit Wanganui for the annual CanShield contest.
