CONSTABLE FAREWELLED

TRANSFER TO PALMERSTON Constable Keith O. Evans, who has been transferred to Palmerston North, was farewelled by members of the Hutt Valley police force at a very happy social gathering in the Lower Hutt Courthouse on Saturday night.

Senior Sergeant D. Sugrue paid tribute to the departing constable’s splendid service, and on behalf of the force presented him with a handsome standard lamp, at the same time wishing him and his wife happiness and prosperity in Palmerston North. Tributes were also paid by Senior Detective W. McLennan, Sergeant J. L. Adams, Detective Sergeant W. Mason, Messrs. A. A. Davies, J.P., M. Brennan (Cciurlhouse staff), J. llyan (representing the business people), A. J. Archer .(representing the Traffic Department), and others. A very enjoyable concert programme was provided by Constable W. H. Smith (songs;, Messrs. E. T. Walsh (piano and piano-accordian items), J. Bax (banjo solos), and Noel Norris (saxophone solos). Community singing was enjoyed, and the guest of the evening was accorded musical honours.
