TOWNS WOMEN'S GUILD

MEETING AT WAIWHETU

The monthly meeting of the Waiwlietu Townswomen's Guild was held in St. Paul's House, Waiwhetu Road. After the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the Guild song. Mrs. Roberts, vice-president, welcomed all present, and wished them a happy afternoon. A card evening held during the month in aid of furnishings for the hall proved successful, and another will be held on October 16th to help further.

The guest speaker for the month was Mrs. Cocker, who gave a very interesting and amusing talk on her life during her husband's occupation of various lighthouses in New Zealand. A vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Smith, who presented Mrs. Cocker with a bouquet of spring flowers. The monthly mystery parcel presented by Mrs. McKillop was won by Mrs. Meldrum. The best flower for the month was won by Mrs. Brown with a beautiful tulip. The cookery competition was won by Mrs. Wooster, and milk jug cover by Mrs. Phillip. The Arts and Crafts Circle, under the tuition of Mrs. Easson, is progressing well, some lovely poker work being the result. The singing of the New Zealand National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
