PRINCESS PUZZLED
TALK AT YOUTH PAGEANT
Princess Elizabeth went to the microphone in the Albert Hall, London, and the audience of thousands stood Up. She spoke lor ten minutes. They stood all the time. The Princess, puzzled, turned to her lady-in-waiting when it was all over and asked, "Why did they stand up J It's so much more comfortable to speak to an audience when they are seated. I couldn't very well go like this," and she moved her hand in a sit-down gesture. The Princess was attending a youth pageant. In her address she suggested air trips for school children to other parts of the Empire, so that they might get to know the people of the Dominions more intimately.
