PETONE ELECTORATE

MR. G. LONDON CHOSEN. NATIONAL PARTY CANDIDATE. There was a large attendance at the Y.M.C.A. Hall on Wednesday night, when Mr. George London was chosen as the National Party candidate for the Petone electorate at the general, election. Mr. T. Hills presided. Mr. London, who was born in Lower Hutt in 4906, was elected to the Petone Borough Council at the age of 2 7 years, and was Mayor in 19 3S. He was at one time chairman of the Hutt Valley Power Board, and is a Hutt Valley member of the Wellington Harbour Board. He is also prominent in sporting activities. While serving with the 2nd N.Z.E.F., Mr. London was captured in Egypt by the Germans, but .escaped. Since his return he has been with a Petone manufacturing firm. The meeting passed an enthusiastic motion of confidence in ; the leadership of Mr. S. G. Holland.
