DEPARTMENTAL OVERLAPPING At a meeting of the executive council of the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. E. A. Tomkies drew attention to the anomaly that though the Marine Department was the certifying authority regarding the safety of machinery, officers of the Labour Department weie visiting factories to inspect machinery guards. . It was decided that the manufacturing sub-committee of the Chamber go into the matter and report to a future meeting.
