BRITAIN’S NEED

Letters received from Britain, indicate the great hardships the people there are undergoing owing to the shortage of certain articles of food and clothing. One letter read last week at a meeting of a certain, group of church people in Lower Hutt which has been forwarding parcels to Britain for some time was pathetic in what it revealed. It expressed the heartfelt gratitude of the recipients for the gifts, and went on to tell of the needs of the people, especially in the way of fats and warm clothing. Women’s stockings and men’s socks, it was stated, would be particularly welcome for distribution to neeessitpus cases, and they would be glad to receive “anything.” To fortunate people in New Zealand who can, to some extent, pick and choose' what they buy and what they wear, that willingness to accept “anything” should reveal the crying need in Britain. All possible help should be given to the people of Britain in the present very difficult times.
