THE MILK QUESTION
MAYOR'S RETICENCE "It has been reported that Petone was represented at a conference of suppliers, vendors and local bodies to discuss the question of milk supplies in Hutt Valley," said Mr. H. V. Horlor at the recent meeting of the Lower Hutt City Council. "I want to know," continued Cr. Horlor, "if the Lower Hutt City was invited, and if so, who attended?" - ''I attended on behalf of Lower Hutt," replied the Mayor, "and I have a statement to make that will come before the Council in committee, when I suggest Cr. Horlor also bring up this matter." Cr. Horlor: "But Cr. Huggan of Petone has already* published his report of what happened at the conference." The Mayor: "Yes; and I was very sorry to see it. I think it was a breach of confidence on his part." Mr. Horlor: "Well, my statement is not for Committee anyhow. I insist on making it in open Council. Mr. Horlor then dealt at length with the recent prosecutions and advocated various measures to improve the quality of milk supplied to Hutt "Valley residents. At the conclusion of Mr. Horlor'sj remarks the Mayor stated that he ,wjould reply to the points raised when the Council went into Committee.
