COMPETITIONS SOCIETY

The syllabus for the Second Annual Festival to be held commencing 7th May, is now available and those who have not already received a copy may obtain them as advertised in these columns. The Competitions will be again held in Petone and the classes for competition which were provided last year also appear on this year's, programme. A special feature will be the Dame Melba Contest, the winner of which will appear at the finals to be held by the Wellington Society later in the year. Two challenge cups have been presented for competition in certain classes in the Dancing Section. The scholarships have been increased by the addition of one in the vocal and one in the instrumental. Classes have been included for clarionet and provision made for bass quartette. The syllabus further includes new features such as one-act sketch, best entertainer, separate classes for boys tap dancing, clog dance, Pas de Trois, picture story ballet, song and dance ballet, Maori song and dance, and trodiitonal folk dancing.
