SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION MANY MAGNIFICENT BLOOMS Although the recent, spell of bad weather caused a slight reduction in the total number of entries, the quality and beauty of the blooms displayed in St. James's Hall last Wednesday and Thursday were ol' a particularly high standard and the general arrangement of the exhibits resulted in a most attractive display that fully maintained the reputation of the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society. Prize-winners were: — N. B. Gibbons Trophy (Gladioli): W. E. Askwith. Ralph Wilson Trophy (Dahlias): H. Y. Caldwell; The Stands: H. J. Poole (begonias, fuchias), silver medal. A. J. Shatter (trade display dahlias), bronze medal. Mrs. S. Cook (display hydrangeas), bronze medal. W. E. Ask with (display seedling gladioli) bronze medal. J. Neill (display of gladioli), certificate of merit. J. Fox (seedling lily), certificate of merit.
