HUTT VALLEY SWIMMINGCLUB

The annual general meeting of the Hutt Valley Swimming Club was held in the Club Rooms before a good attendance of new and old members. Before proceeding with the business of the meeting members stood in silence in memory of the late Keith Rogers, a former committeeman of the club who gave his life on active service. Although the club will again operate under war time conditions in the coming season, there does not appear to be any reason why the club should not experience as good, if not a better season than last year. Once again the task of keeping the club's high position in Wellington swimming will fall to the younger members. This season the club will be able to field both a men's and women's team in the Wellington Centre's polo water polo competitions, and it is also hoped to field a strong team in defence of the Peck Shield which goes to the winning team in the Centre's Harbour Race. The shield was won last year by Hutt. As recognition of the great services she has i*endered the club since its inception. Mrs. F. Cooper was elected the elu;b's ii-rsi ,'lailv vicepresiden t.
