School Concert
The Hutt Valley High School annual concert was held in the Assembly Hail on 21st and 22nd October and well attended on both nights by parents, pupiis and lriends. The iii'ot hiui of the programme consisted of three items by the school orjhototra (. "Coronation March," "A J.cam iof Christmas," and march L.'oui Tannhauser,") all greatiy appreciated. A Russian iiaiiot in costume "Czardas" was a pleasing interlude. Excellent solo "numbers were given by Pauline Lock and Margaret Robson who sang respectively "On Wings of Song" and "I Wish I were a Tiny Bird." S. ToomaUi, who played the pianoforte boio 'i<'antasie Impromptu" (Chopin) proved to be a pianist of considerable promise. The second half of the programme was made up of a variety of items by the School Band under the baton of Mr. T. Gray, a bracket of three numbers by the boys' choir, and concluding with "Land of Hope and Glory," "God Defend New Zealand" and the National Anthem by the combined choirs. The play chostn for this year's presentation by tin- Dramatic Circle' was J. M. Bai-rie'ts Shall We Join the Ladies"? a one-net play providing some fifteen minutes of tense excitement and mystery. M
