TAITA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

Mrs. Rothnie presided at the 1 monthly meeting of the Taita 1 Women's Institute, held recently. Mrs. Bennett, president of the Hutt Valley Federation, gave an inter- 1 esting talk on the various activities ' of the institutes. ' The social and dance was a great success, and the following week 1 members of the committee spent a busy day packing and despatching ! soldiers' parcels. Good reports were received from ' all circles, more knitting and sewing being handed in. The members < are now knitting for the Merchant 1 Navy, and the Sewing Circle is mak- < ing children's clothes to be sent to the bombed areas at Home. Mrs. ( Middleton and Miss Wilson were ( appointed delegates to tne half- < yearly council meeting.
