DONATION FROM PARENTS' ASSOCIATION At the monthly meeting of the Hutt Valley High School Board of Governors, which took pTace at the school recently, the principal, Mr. J. N. Millard, announced that the sum of £82/17/6 had been received from the Parents' Association. Of this amount £45 is to go to the cost of a new piano, £20 to the library, £10 to the band, £5 to the fine arts club, and £2/17/6 for repairs to radio and gramophone. The board expressed its appreciation ! of this gesture. i The chairman of the board, Mr. D. A. Ewen, congratulated the members of the school first fifteen oh 1 the fight they had put up against ] the Dannevirke team when the two < schools met during the quadraogu- 1 lar tournament. The heavier Dannevirke team gained the lead only i in the last few minutes of the game. J In addition to the chariman, members presept were Messrs. H. G. i Teagle, J. S. Hunter, J. Stonehouse, A. E. Spencer and Fisher. i Mr. Millard also announced that ' the boxing tournament will be held l at the school on Friday next. The annual athletic sports will be held i on Wednesday, October 29th, and i the band, the orchestra, the boys' ] and girls' choirs and the dramatic 1 club are organising a school 'concert 1 to take place early in November. i
