"In the past few weeks," said the Minister of Health (Mr. Nordmeyer) - been Bix reported deattoir<fh)m meningitis in the Wel#Sit, only one of these to cerebro spinal meningitis". unfortunate deaths in the one family in resulted from Influenzal meningitis, which is not of the epidemic type and which is not notifiable. The other two fatal cases in the Hutt Valley resulted from tubercular meningitis, which is notiflble but again is not infectious.
"Isolated- cases of cerebro-spinal meningitiß are liable to occur at this time of the year, and in all such cases immediate precautions are taken for the safety of the public to prevejit the spread of the disease. In the one local recent case of cerebro-spinal meningitis the usual inquiries were made, and all possible contacts were swabbed and kept under observation by officers of my department. Nothing has occurred since the patient died on August 13 to suggest that the source of infection is still active."
