W.W.S.A. NOTES

During the past two weeks members have had instruction in military drill under Sgt-Major Ryan, of the Defence Department, and many took part in the Emergency Reserve Corps parade which was held in Petone last Saturday, and acquitted themselves in a most creditable manner. Several more members of the Transport section have been successful in obtaining their heavy traffic licenses, and in the end of term examination at the mechanics' class at the Technical School all members passed with credit. The signallers are continuing with their classes, and also have practical experience in the field during the week-ends under able leadership of Mr. B. Hoskin. The cycle group is at present having instruction in repair work and signalling, and took part in a sectional try-out recently. The canteen and land groups are at present attending first aid classes, and the canteen members have had practical experience at Y.W.C.A. soldiers;.' teas at the weekends. It 'is hoped that the land group will soon' be able to work the land allotted to them, but the continued wet weather haß made it unadvißable to plough the ground yet. An appeal is being made for gardening tools, and if anyone w|th tools not in use would be r willing to lend them for this work' the; are asked to communicate with the district secretary, Mrs. A*. Miller, phone. 62-797, or- Mrs. PWkard, land'kroup convenor, phone 63-281.
