HUTT VALLEY CAGE BIRD SOCIETY
I. » I The monthly meeting of the Hutt Valley Cage Bird Society was held in the River Board rooms on Wednesday, 15th March, a good attendance of members being present. The vice--chairman presided in the absence, of the chairman, Mr. R. W. Gilliard. In view of the approaching date of the annual show, which is to be held in the Horticultural Hall on Thursday and Friday, 18th and 19th May, quite a large amount of business was dealt with. Final arrangements were made for the judging, the following judges being appointed: Budgerigars, Mr. G. Row. Hutchinson, Auckland; Yorkshire canaries, Mr. T. Parker, Hamilton; Norwich canaries, Mr. J. F. Brice, Palmerston; roller canaries, Mr. J. E. Cassidy, Wellington; British and foreign birds, Mr. G. R. Hutchinson, Auckland. A generous sum of money was set aside for use as casli specials. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. Torrance, Monks and Jones, was appointed to compile the schedule and make arrangements for printing same. Owing to the May meeting falling on. the day before the show, it was decided to hold it on Monday, Bth May. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. J. A. Torrance for his services in making the wholg of the. tresels for the show. These entailed quite a lot of work, and are probably the finest cage bird tresels in New Zealand. Arrangements were also finalised for holding two table shows in the Hibernian Hall, Laings Road, on Thursday, 23rd March, and Wednes.day, sth April, the best bird in each section to be awarded 25 per cent, of section entrance money, the best budgerigar at the second show to be a hen. — i
