POWER BOARD REACHES NEW MARK

| 13,000 CONSUMERS. J Thes 13,000 consumer mark had been passed, reported the engineer-general (manager, Mr. E. F. Hollands, to the JHutt Valley Electric Power Board on [Thursday. The chairman, Mr. A. W. Press, said the indications were, with the housing construction being, carried out in the Hutt ; that the 14*000 mark would be passed more quickly than the thousand mark just reached. An increase in power sales for the months April to July, 1937, of £4891 ever the sales for the same period in 1930 was reported by Mr Hollands. The details are, the 1937, 1936-' and the increase figures being given respectively: Availability rate: Domestic lighting, heating and cooking, £23,860, £23,580, £280; commercial lighting, £4807, £4424, £383; water heating, £4054, £3664, £390; power, £11,211, £8448, £27,62; public lighting, £1281, £1253, £27. Gross, totals, ££45,216, £41,371, £3844. Discounts at £3731 w re £1046 less than for 1936, making a net increase of £4891.
