An Enjoyable Dance
.WWm HUTT ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CLUB. The Lower. Hutt Association Football Club's annual social and dance held on Saturday, October 17, was exceptionally weJl attended, Miss Eva Draper's hall being' filled to absolute ! capacity. .bright music was provided by Bolton's Orchestra, extras being played by Messrs; T. Walker and A.' EUdolph. The duties of M.C. were shared by Messrs. B. Brown and W. Logan. ' z
The Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss E. Kennedy and Mr. N. Sye, and the statue dance iby Miss McVean a*nd Mr. a. Dodds.
With Miss Conion as accompaniste, Mrs. MoCallum sang two delightful solos. Mr. J. Campbell entertained with two of his popular numbers and Mz\ JR. McGuchan gave much pleasure with his selections on the concertina.
A demonstration of the modern waltz and quickstep by Miss T. Witcher and Mr. G. Hay (pupils of Miss K Draper) was waTmly applauded.
Mr. A. J. Gearing, president o,f the Club, presented Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Bird who- recently removed from tho district with a beautiful oak dinner waggon." Mr. Gearing said that for ten years Mr. Bird had carred out, in a most efficient manner, -the duties of Club secretary, also during the whole of that time ibotk he and Mrs. Bird proved' themselves two of the most zealous workers in the social activities of the Club.
On behalf of the committee and 1 Club members Mr. Gearing also called on Mr. Arthur K. Batchelor to receive a handsome chiming clock, suitably inscribed ,a<s a tangible expression) of the Club's regard and appreciation of services rendered. Mr. Batchelor's .connection with the Hutt Woccer Club dates back, for twelve years, throughout which time he has been an active playing member and an enthusiastic and very dependable worker oil iboth the management and social committees of the Club.
In suitably acknowledging their respective presentations Messrs. Bird and Batchelor each stressed their love for the round-ball game, after which all joined in s'inging "Fur They Are Jolly Good Fellows." AVith the advent of midnight a'lal'ge circle was formed and "Auld Lang Syne'-' concluded a very happy and and memorable wind-up social. "
