PEDIGREE PIGS SELL BY AUCTION.
GOOD REALISATIONS AT ANNUAL FAIR. Very satisfactory prices, improved upon those of last year, were realised yesterday at the annual spring sale of pedigree pigs, conducted at the Showgrounds. An offering of 76 pigs, representing the principal breeds, was presented, and the majority of the animals were disposed of under the hammer. The fourteen vendors in the catalogue were from a number of districts, and similarly, purchasers from a wide area attended the sale, which was conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercan-' tile Agency, Ltd.
The top price was 15 guineas, paid by Mr B. Haynes, of Napier, for a Large Black sow, Horowhcnna Shamrock, which has never been beaten in the show-ring.
In the Large Blacks’ section, on account John Morgan (Weraroa), the following prices were realised: — One sow to B. Haynes (Napier) at 3J gas.; 1 to B. Haynes at 4igns.; 1 to B. Haynes at s:}gns.; 1 to Burns Bros. (Kopane) at 6gns.; 1 to A. Turner (Waitotara) at sgns.; 1 to Geo. Firth (Feilding) at sgns.; 1 to B Haynes at llgns.; 1 to B. Haynes at logns.; I boar to G. Mitchell (Woodville) at 5 gns.; 1 to L. Be van (Mauakau) at Signs.
