KIMBERLEY INSTITUTE.

The monthly meeting of the Kimberley Women’s Institute was held on September 7th. The meeting opened with the reading of the Aspirations and Ode to Friendship. Mrs. Evans, President, who presided, welcomed the members and also several visitors, one being from an Institute in Central Otago. Apologies for abence were received from Medames L. Griffith, McLean, Bryant, iSorraghan, iDttmcr, D. Brown and Field.

Congratulations were sent from the Ihakara W.I. to Kimberley on their winning the cooking banner. Two new members were elected.

Members were requested to send in exhibits to the spring show in Levin, several members stating their intention of doing so. After all the business had been attended to Mr.-Pickering was introduced and gave an interesting demonstration on stencilling and stencil cutting. The competition, a vase of bulbs, was judged by Mrs. Pickering and resulted in Miss Smith winning first place, Mrs, Evans second, Miss Davies third. Miss Mellor winning in the junior section. The market stall-hold-ers were also kept busy. A dainty afternoon tea was served by Mesdamea Gorrie, Frew, Callendar, Benning, and Coulson. After a vote of thanks had been accorded Mr. Pickering for his demonstration, the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
