WORKERS’ DWELLINGS

Council to Consider Matter

of Loan

Consideration is to be given by the Hastings Borough Council to the question of a Government loan for workers’ dwellings. The matter was raised at the meeting last evening by a letter received from the State Advances Corporation of New Zealand, and it was referred to the works committee fur consideration. The Corporation asked for an estimate of the amount that might be required by the council on loan for the erection of workers’ dwellings and the approximate date when the loan moneys would be required. The Corporation also asked what action the council had taken regarding the. housing survey under the provisions of the Housing Survey Act, 1935. If a survey bad been made, the Corporation desired full particulars.
