HUNGER FOR LAND

Money Available in Manawatu District PROPERTIES SCARCE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., April 22. Though the first few months following Christmas are usually a quiet period in the farm property market, the reverse is tho case this year in Manawatu, there being a keen demand. Leaseholds are almost unobtainable. Prospective buyers of dairying land are offering substantial cash deposits, and purchasers seeking remunerative investment have cash available, in some instances up to £lO,OOO, but whereas three years ago there were good properties available but little cash, now there is ample money but properties are not on the market. Such realisations as have been reported for good properties close to the city are in the vicinity of £7O to £BO an acre for going concerns.
