Success of Recent Gymkhana PLUNKET FUNDS BENEFIT

From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPAWA, April 21. At the usual monthly meeting of the Waipawa Plunket Committee, Airs J. Bibby presided ovet the following members: —Mesdames R, Bishop, K. Gollan, F. Eagle, Eraser, H. Bryant, Petersen - , Mason, A, Logan, P. Logan, E. 8. Bibby, W. Spicer, J. P. haiker and H. M. Preston (secretary). The financial statement presented by the secretary showed the receipts tor the month at £76 13/0, and expenditpre £27 18/ lU. The receipts included the halt-yearly grant iruin headquarters, £59 12/1. Mrs E. Nairn donation £6, Miss L. Williams (Pukehou) donation £2, and Mrs J. Bibby subscription 5/- and donation 5/-. Subscriptions were also received from bliss D. Juli, aud Mesdames Edwards, N. J. McKay, K. Gollan, F. Jull and Gregory, v. 11. Rasmussen, F. Limbriek, I l '. Hansen, C. K. Woods, K. Hall and A. L. Hooper. The secretary reported that the old car had been uisposed ot and the proceds placed to a “Car Account” lhe Otane branch had lorwarded a cheque lor £2O towards the account, and liuu also given generously to the Gyuikhuiia stalls. GYMKHANA REPORT. The gymkhana bad proved a must suceesslul venture in every way and the committee wish to record their appreciation of fhe generous, helpful and cheerful spirit in which this Plunket effort, hud been received by everyone. It was resolved that a letter of thanks be sent to the men’s committee for the wholehearted way iu which they worked to organise and carry through, such a successful and pleasing entertainment. A hearty vote ot thanks was also passed to ail those who contributed goods or assistance for the stalls, and particularly to the many contributors outside the Waipawa district who had also given freely. Tile conimitte resolved that a donation of £5 from the gymkhana fund should ue sent to the Wanganui Karitane Hospital, that being the hospital tor this district. NURSE'S REPORT. The report of the nurse on the work ot the mouth was as follows;—\iaipawa: Babies under supervision 75; other children HU; new babies 1. The following visits were paid: lamumu 2, Elsthorpe 2, Otane 4, Tikokino 2, Ongaonga 2. At Otane there are 15 babies under supervision, and 31 older . children; at Tikokino 5 babies and one child, and at Ongaonga six babies. It was resolved that the annual meeting be held early m May, and that following the business ot the meeting a short music programme should be given and the general public invited to attend. The date for the annual ball was fixed for May 29, provided this date was found to be suitable and clear of all other fixtures BUSINESS GIRLS’ CLUB. Active steps are at present, being taken for the formation of a Business Girls’ Club in Waipawa, and from the interest which is being shown in the project, there seems every prospect of the club being successfully organised. PERSONAL. Mr Thornby Sherratt, master of the Hawke’s Bay Hunt Club, was m the Tikokino district last Friday making arrangements with the farmers for the coming hunting season. TIKOKINO DOG TRIALS. At the Tikokino Dog Trial meeting to be held early next month, Mr H. W. Sebley will have acted as timekeper for 25 years, probably a record for the Dominion SACRED CONCERT. On Anzac night the Waipawa Municipal Band, assisted by a party from Te Aute College, will give a sacred concert in the Municipal Theatre in aid of the funds of the Waipawa Plunket Society.
