ABSINTHE IN COCKTAILS
“Cocktails are the most vicious and pernicious of all beverages,” said Dr Harold Berry, speaking at the Round Table Club yesterday. He explained that absinthe—the most poisonous of al, intoxicating liquors—was prohibited in France, where it was manufactured, however, in large quantities. Much of it was exported to England and was used for making cocktails. “Next lime you feel like drinking a cocktail, just remember that it probably contains absinthe,” he said.
