The Sydney City Tattersalls Club races were held at Randwiek on Saturday, and were favoured by a fine bright day after three days’ light rain. The course was a trifle- holding. Results: — TRAMWAY HANDICAP. 7 furlongs. LOUGH NEAGH, Mr T. Brosnon’s ch. g. by Bachelor’s Pensee— Terentia, aged, 8.4 (Shean) .... 1 King’s Head 7.7 (Parsons) 2 Gay Blondo (N.Z.) 8.6 (Tinker) ~ 3 Twenty-one started, including Synagogue and Grand Sport. Lough Neagh unwound a withering run in the straight aqd won by four lengths, with Gay Blonde a length and a-half away third. Dark Sky was fourth. Grand Sport finished eighth, while Synagogue faded at the home turn, finishing 10th. Silver Ring did not start. Time, 1.26-1. Gay Blonde’s debut in Australia was impressive, as she had anything but the best of the running. CHELMSFORD STAKES Of £1000; 9 furlongs. SYLVANDALE Miss Lorna Doone’s b. h., by Silvius—La Bergeronette, 4yrs 9.7 (Pratt) 1 Contact 9.0 (Maher) 2 Kogilla 9.8 (D. Munro) 3 Scratched: Topical aud Grand Mogul. Won by three-quarters of a length, third back a head. Time, 1.54 J. Homer and Latharna were prominent to the home turn. liogilla and Contact, although badly away, finished brilliantly. Won by one and a-half lengths, third back one. and a-quarter lengths. Time, 2.8. Sporting Blood finished so determinedly and strongly that he gained hosts of admirers. WELTER HANDICAP. 1 mile. NARBETHONG 8.2 (L. J. Ellis) .. .1 Golden Gate 9.5 (Marsden) 2 Scratchmere Scar 9.0 (A. E. Ellis) 3 Fifteen started, including Cherry King, Golden Chance and Viceroy. Cherry King and Golden Chance were up with the leaders to the turn, where Narbethong came through with a burst of speed and won easily by four lengths, with two lengths between second and third. Cherry King was fourth, Golden Chance eighth and Viceroy last. Tim,e, 1.41. The New Zealand jockeys rode first and third place-getters. Jockey E. Hood w-as suspended for three months for continuing in a hurdle race on African after his mount ran off at one of the jumps. Pike, rider of Synagogue, stated that Synagogue did not relish the heavy going, and went most unkindly after striking a particularly bad patch. Double to Mr. Kemball MELBOURNE, Sept. 15. The weather was damp for the Moonee Valley races. ; Results:— BOOMERANG HURDLES Of £300; 2 miles 110 yards. CAPE FAIR (N.Z.) 9.9 (Sullivan) 1 Rob Meßeid 9.7 (Meredith) .. .. 2 Purveyor 9.11 (Fullarton) .. .. 3 Nine started, including the New Zealander Revision. The race ended sensationally. Martext, which was leading well from Cape Fair, took the wrong turning by continuing along the old course, instead of turning into the straight at the home turn, with the result that Cape Fair went on to win narrowly by a length and a half from Rob Meßeid, which hung on tenaciously. There were two lengths between second and third. Time, 3.524. Cape Fair, who shaped particularly well for a novice, was always prominent and jumped excellently. MOONEE VALLEY STAKES Of £1025; 7( furlongs. VALIANT CHIEF 8.9 (Voitre) ■■ 1 Garrio 8.9 (England) * Carnarvon 8.9 (Breasley) .. .. * *D,ead heat for second. Eight started. Voitre’s vigorous riding in a desperate fight up the straight with the dead-heaters enabled Valiant Chief to snatch victory by a short head. Garrio was most unlucky, as he was badly away and made up a lot of ground anil finally ran wide. Time, 1.35 J. Autumn Wind was second in the first division of the CorrobOree Maiden Handicap, Dazzling Raid was unplaced in this event. MOONEE VALLEY STEEPLECHASE Of £1000; 24 miles and 6 chains CHARACTER 9.10 (Meagher) 1 Waneonner 9.9 (Hynes) .. 2 Mcmbo 10.7 (Zeally) .. .. 3

Eighteen started, including Make Up and Shatter, both finishing close up. Won by half a length, third back two and a half lengths. Time, 5.6, a course record.

Metro, Palatinate and North Cape were unplaced in the Budgeree Handicap, which was won by the West Australian Hyperion. The Nulla Nulla Welter Handicap (first division) was won by Mr W.
