The Governor-General, Viscount Galway, and Viscountess Galway arrived in Auckland yesterday afternoon from * Taupo where they have been fishing. Their Excellencies are in residence >.t Government Home, where they will remain until July.—Press Assu.
The Mayor, Mr. G. A. Maddison, who has been in Wellington on Education Board business, arrives home this evening.
Mr E. R. Whyte left Hastings today for Auckland, whence he sails by tho Aorangi on a short visit to Canada and the United Stales. During his absence he will further his studies in dentistry.
The Rt. Rev. 11. W Williams, Bishop ot Waiapu. who has been visiting Hamilton and Wellington, returned to Napier by the mail tiain last evening.
Mr P. 11. Dwight, of the Waipawa railway staff, is on a visit to Christchurch to attend the re-union of his family on the occasion of the 80th. birthday of his father.
Mr F. Adeane ha* been appointed to represent the Waipawa branch of tho Returned Soldiers’ Association at the annual conference to be held in Wellington next month.
The many friends of Mr J. Livingston. president of the Southern Hawke’s Bay Provincial Executive of the Farmers' Union, will be pleased to know that he has recovered from his recent illness, and ic able to be about again.
