Meeting at Waimarama
The February meeting of the. Marae-totara-Waimurama Women's Institute was held at the homo of Mrs. Steenson, Waimarama, when Miss Chambers presided over a large attendance of members and visitors. The meeting opened, with the singing of the institute song, alter which tho business and correspondence for the month were dealt with. As it was “members’ day,” the members took over the meeting, Mrs. Ward acting as president and Mrs. Stewart as secretary. 'The roll-call, “What I should do if I awakened at mid-night to find the house on fire,” caused considerable amusement. A short and amusing play was read by Mesdames S. Allan and Gilray and Miss Tapp, whose excellent interpretations of the different characters gave their listeners much pleasure. A competition, “Book Titles,” was won by Miss Ward. After tea. was served by the hostesses, Airs Stewart and Miss Ward, after which, Mrs. Thom, on behalf of the committee, thanked the members for the afternoon's entertainment. Tho meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
