Earthquake Loan

(To the Editor.) Sir, —It is rather hard tv understand Mr French's long letters ou the above subject, when he told us so recently that there is ample credit in New Zealand banks tor worthy people. There is ample credit; it is unlimited providing the borrower has good security and is willing to pay for it at a good rate of interest. Mr French has no time for social credit when it comes to a sane method of dealing with unemployment, but would evidently welcome something of the sort for a few business men who lost a bit in the earthquake. The people who got their chimneys rebuilt out of the fund were a bit lucky. If Mr French had had the apportioning of it the business people would probably have got tho lot.—Yours, etc., A.W. Hastings, 18/9/34.
