The roads committee, consisting of Messrs Stratton, Toop, and I’aton, reported as follows:—We have been over all roads and bridges and would recommend: That Joll road be widened just past its intersection with Campbell road, and that the electric light post there be shifted to permit of this work being carried out. We have issued instructions to have metal laid on the new parking place at the bowling green. That Alcllardy street roadway be raised from Ellison road to a point below Mr Elder’s main gates on McHardy street, thus giving this street a true grade at its upper end. We ask that it be a recommendation to the incoming roads committee that the work of widening Duart and Ellison roads and Tanner street be proceeded with on tho same lines as the job in McHardy street; when this work is completed there will be a splendid drive right round the village. The recent heavy rains have caused pot holes to appear on most corners of back roads; we have instructed the clerk to have red metal dumped at various points. Napier road is being prepared for tar-sealing, and is now in good shape; we are having the corner of St. Hill’s lane built up with a view to having it tar-sealed when the main job is done. We thank all members of the board for the assistance which has always been given our committee, and we trust that the task of the incoming committee will be as pleasant as ours has been during the past two years. The report of the cemetery committee, Messrs Greenwood and Christie, was read as follows:— We have made our final inspection for the period and beg to report as follows: Steady progress has been made with the levelling of the eastern portion of the cemetery and when completed will greatly improve the property. Miss Couper has donated sufficient limestone rocks to make a rock garden along the drive between blocks I and J and L and M. We suggest that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee to arrange for the sealing of as many more paths as possible, and that a second coat of colfix be given on all the present onecourse work; also that the iron fence on Mr Greening’s boundary be extended to 30 feet.

Miss Couper is to bo thanked for her donation.
