HASTINGS CURRENT
Complaint by Consumers
CHARGES FOR A.C. POWER
Letters from residents in various parts of tho Hastings borough stating that accounts for electricity have increased since alternating current was installed have been received by the electrical committee of the Borough Council recently, and a statement showing the differences that have taken place was attached by the signatories.
The committee considered this matter very carefully, together with the statement showing the position of the signatories’ accounts. In some cases A.C. had been supplied for some years, and from inquiries made in other cases, it appeared that extra appliances had been put in since A.C. was installed. The committee recommended to hist evening’s meeting of the council that tho petitioners be informed that the council regrets it cannot do anything in the matter, but that if requested any meter will be tested under the usual conditions. The council adopted the recommendation.
