AUSTRALIAN TEAM WINS MATCH WITH DANNEVIRKE, By Telegraph—Press Association. DANNEVIRKE, August 20 . Playing fast, clean hockey characterised by clever stickwork, the touring Australian team avenged their defeat of 1929 by beating Dannevirke to-day by a margin ot four goals, the score being Australia five, Dannevirke one. At half-time the visitors were two up. Dannevirke’s score was gained in the first minute of the second half by Tolmie. The ground was fast and comparatively dry, suiting the Australians’ style of play much better than on Saturday at Hamilton. Goals were scored for Australia hy Tester (2), Allen, Penman and Leggett. Their total would have been higher but for brilliant play by Dannevirke’s goal-keeper Chapman. Dannevirke's attacks lacked polish. J. Elliott (Australia) repeatedly repelled the forwards to start counterattacks. the team being at about the same strength as on Saturday. The hard-hitting eleven is developing good combination, the superiority being more marked in the forwards than in the defence, Allen being the outstanding centre with Leggett and Tester next best and Lee the best of the halves The Dannevirke defence was fairly sound, the fault being in the halves who were disinclined to back up the forwards.
