LEAGUE FOOTBALL

CLIVE LEADING IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. Saturday’s Rugby League games were well attended. At Clive about 600 saw Clive win over Taradale after what might be termed a good, open game spoiled by bad handling on both sides. At League Park, the new Rugby League playing area on the Taradale road, Ahuriri defeated Te Awa before 300 spectators. The City team journeyed and played Te Ngarue, on their own ground at Tangoio. The Maori team, who have improved, won very easily. Results of the games:— SENIOR GRADE Clive (12) v. Taradale (7). Ahuriri (10) v. Te Awa (3). Te Ngarue (25) v. City (8). JUNIOR GRADE Taradale (13) v Ahuriri (nil). Westsbore (3) v. City (nil). THIRD GRADE Clive (14) v. Taradale (nil).
