MEETING AT WAIPUKURAU ARRANGEMENTS FOR WINTER From Our Own Correspondent. The annual meeting of St. Mary’s Anglican Guild, Waipukurau, was held in the old church on Thursday afternoon, Canon E. D. Rice presiding over a good attendance. The annual report and balance-sheet which were most satisfactory, were read and adopted. The election of officers for the year resulted in Mrs E. Broad being elected president, Mrs E. I). Rice, vice-presi-dent and Mrs V. Bradley, hon secretary (re-elected). Matters in connection with church work were fully discussed. It was decided to hold a series of socials during the winter months, the first to be held on April 18. which will take the form of a “500” evening. Mesdames W H L. Williams. ,1 Wharmby, R Keene ami L. Wood wore the committee appointed to make all arrangements. A young people’s dance will be held in May. The advisability of starting a badminton club was fully discussed and a committee was set up to make further inquiries/ A competition is to be held each guild day and prizes will be awarded for th/, best article; September 10 was the date decided on for the annual spring bulb show. Mesdamcs I’. Smyrk. !'. Staines and J. Wlmrmby were appointed buyer-. for the guild. The guild will meet the first Thursday in each mouth A much-appreci-ated afternoon tea was served by Mrs dames Rice and Bradley.
