OPENING OF COLF SEASON TO TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY From Our Own Correspondent. The Takapau Golf Club is opening the links for the season on Saturday next, 24th, inst., when a mixed four-ball will be played in the afternoon. Members of neighbouring clubs are invited to join in the opening game. The course, which has been receiving special attention for some time past, is in good order for this time of the year, any with a largely augmented membership the club should have a very successful season. It has been decided to engage the services of a professional early in the season, probably about the beginning of May. ST. PATRICK’S DANCE. The St. Patrick’s dance held in the Takapau Public Hart was well up to the high standard that has been set in the past and was wonderfully successful, both from the viewpoint of an enjoyable social evening and ns regards the financial result of the function. The net proceeds for the evening amounted to £4O, a figure that speaks for itself when it is understood that popular prices for admission were charged. The decorations were in the hands of Mrs W T. Smith and the colour schemes were so well carried out that they added a glamour to the evening and made au admirable setting for a full floor of dancers. Guests came from all parts of the district, Waipukurau, Waipawa, Ongaonga, Ormondville, Makotuku and Norsewood, with the result that the limits of the large hall were taxed to their utmost capacity. In spite of the very largo attendance, arrangements were so well made and so admirably carried out that everything went with a swing and patrom.; hail a. morn Ilian ordinarily enjoyable evening.
