CENTRAL H.B. ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent) The annual general meeting of the Central Hawke’s Bay Rugby Referees’ Association was held at Waipukurau last evening, the preseident, Mr P. R. Smyrk, presiding. The president’s annual report and balance-sheet were read and considered very satisfactory. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr R. A. Eraser; president,, Mr P. R. Smyrk; vice-presidents, Messrs B. L. Wallis, W. J. Wood, H. M. Carr, F. A. Polhill, L. R. Cutforth and W. Clark; hon. auditor, Mr C. R. Watson; secre-tary-treasurer, Mr D. P. Dinnan; dele- ' gate to sub-union, Mr P. R. Smyrk; appointment board for representative I games, Messrs B. L. Wallis, A. C, Holms, and P, R. Smyrk; sole appointee for championship games, Air D. P. Dinnan; executive committee, Messrs Wallis, Smyrk, Dinnan and C. M. Williamson; delegate to annual conference, Mr H. J. McKenzie (Masterton). Three new members, Messrs N. Farquhar, F. J. H. Brittain and A. Rusmussen were elected and welcomed to the association. LECTURES TO PLAYERS. The president referred to the lectures given by the association members to players last season, stating that these lectures had been much appreciated and that there was no doubt that the knowledge gained by the players had proved most helpful. Commenting upon the annual report and balance-sheet, Mr A. C. Holms said that the position disclosed reflected great credit on the association and its executive officers, and in particular upon the secretary, Mr Dinnan. 'The association had every appearance of having been run on the minimum of expenditure with the maximum of service. A letter was received from the New Zealand Rugby Referees’ Association advising that the annual meeting of that body would be held at Auckland during Easter, and asking that the association forward any motion that it may have in order that it could be included in the order paper. The president said that the Central Hawke’s Bay Association was unable to send a delegate to the conference, but hoped that it would be able to do so in future years. In connection with this he moved that a letter be sent to Mr 11. J. McKenzie advocating that a referees’ conference be held in Central Hawke’s Bay at the earliest opportunity.—Carried. WORK OF SUB-UNION. It was resolved to forward a letter of appreciation to the Central Hawke’s Bay Rugby Sub-Union and to congratulate the chairman and secretary of that body on having conducted a most successful season. It was decided that the association holt! meetings each Monday, but the first bo held on Tuesday, April 3. On the motion of Mr Dinnan, it was resolved that the delegate to the Subunion be instructed to oppose any motion in reference to the abolishing of referees on the Sub-union. The chairman pointed out that if it was good enough for the referees to turn out lor the good of the game each Saturday to tender their services as theoretical coaches and to assist the Sub-union in various other capacities, it was certainly good enough for the referees to have represenataion on the Sub-union. It would be a poor Snb-imion without clubs, but it would be an even poorer Sub-union without referees. It was decided that the referees uniform be white jerseys, white shorts and white-topped stockings; also tn apply to the Sub-union for two black jerseys for the use of referees when refereeing teams with jerseys approaching the colour of the referee’s jersey. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Messrs F. A. Polhill and A. Parker for services rendered to the association, and also to the Press.
