PROGRAMME FOR WINOOKA

PUBLIC WORK-OUT NEXT SATURDAY. SPRINT ON THE LAUREL COURSE NEW YORK, October 14. A Laurel (Maryland) message states that, sharing a programme with two stake horses, Winooka is to shdw his ability to spectators at Laurel Park on Saturday in a public work-out. A test for Winooka is being arranged for next Friday. Such American sprinters as Gold Step, Character, Pair by Pair, Indian Runner and Marooned are sought for a tentative event. Winooka worked over five furlongs at Laurel with Caesar's Ghost and Okapi, who is a likely starter next Friday. All three were hard held. Polson timed the trial at 1.02. Caesar’s Ghost led most of the way, Winooka heading him at the top stretch but Caesar's Ghost was in front of Winooka by three quarters of a length at the finish. The track was deep and holding.
