WAIPUKURAU
NEWS AND NOTES. (Special Representative.) The Waipukurau Fire Brigade will be represented at the forthcoming United District Fire Brigades’ Association’s demonstration at Carterton during Easter by the following team: Superintendent J. Ashton Chambers, Foreman S. Annand, Firemen H. Scherf, F. Watson and R. Spotswood. The team, which will leave Waipukurau on Friday morning, will be accompanied by Mr A. C. Holms. With the near approach of the duck shooting season, several enthusiasts are at present busily engaged in preparing the decoys and J‘hides.’’ At the Hatuma Lake there is evidence of the aportsmen’s activity in this direction, and a number of shelters and shooting stands have already made their appearance. The following donations are gratefully acknowledged by the Waipukurau Unemployed and Employed Association: Mesdames de la Haye, clothes and sack of quinces; P. F. Wall, box of quinces; A’Deane, carcase of beef; Miss de la Haye, clothes; J. A. Buchanan, aack of pumpkins. On Saturday the cooperative committee distributed seven earcases of beef, and to-day there will be a distribution of beef.
